Leonardo exhibition and the copy of the Mona Lisa | January 2022.

Visit to the Prado Museum, Leonardo Exhibition and the copy of the Mona Lisa with the Sonia G Caballero Montessori Art School. Two days in the Prado Museum.

What better way to bring children to art, which was my origins in my profession today. Visiting the Prado Museum and great original works to awaken in the hearts of the little ones their artistic soul, accompanying children on this visit has been a trip to my childhood with my grandfather.
Today we visited the temporary exhibition of the copy of the Mona Lisa at the Prado. One of the girls, told me ” It’s the most beautiful painting I’ve ever seen!”

1 Leonardo da Vinci (ca.1432-1519), Portrait of Lisa Gherardini del Giocondo, called La Gioconda or Mona Lisa, 1503-19, oil on panel 77 x 53cm.
Paris Musée du Louvre, inv. 779.

2 .  1507/8-13/16, oil on panel, 76.3 x 57 cm.
Madrid, Museo Nacional del Prado, P000504.

3 Infrared reflectography of the Portrait of Lisa Gherardini del Giocondo, called La Gioconda or Mona Lisa, from the Musée du Louvre ( fig. left).
4 Infrared reflectography of the copy of the Mona Lisa from the Prado Museum ( fig. right).

We also visited the exhibitions of Murillo’s Prodigal Son and the Art of Narrating the Andalusian Baroque, the exhibition of Ibero-American Art in Spain. And of course a walk through Goya, we had planned to see La maja vestida and La maja desnuda, but La maja vestida is currently in an exhibition in Basel in Switzerland until January 23. We have also seen Las Meninas by Velazquez; The Immaculate Conception by Murillo and The Good Shepherd; The Triptych of the Jarin of Delights, The Three Graces by Rubens, The Adoration of the Shepherds by Mengs.
I think it has been an unforgettable visit.

For a better and more conscious world

ART & EDUCATION, ART & CONSCIOUSNESS.

“Conscientiousness always keeps our eyes fixed on daily life, so that whatever new things we incorporate have an immediate manifestation in our daily lives. In this way, we learn to honour our gifts and talents, to help our children bring out the best in themselves”.
(Emilio Carrillo, “Conscientiousness”)

Education” is a continuous learning process throughout our lives.  To educate means to draw out, to lead out. According to the Socratic Mayeutics “Helping to bring forth what is conceived by the subject himself”, by educating we help the learner to discover what is inside him. By helping the child or young person to discover themselves, they will discover their gifts and talents and put them to use by giving the best of themselves, this is what in Japanese is called KOKORO WO KOMETE, a term that you will find in the KOTODAMA book.

Education has two main foundations: to collaborate so that the child, adolescent or young person knows himself; and that in doing so, he values his innate capacities, qualities, gifts and faculties, that is to say, his gifts and talents.

It is essential to apply consciousness to education in its various forms and levels in order to recover the authentic meaning and reason for being.

Developing as a person cannot be separated from emotional growth. Young people are very damaged affectively and emotionally by the fact that the labour market swallows up parents and they are no longer available for their children. There is a lot of lack of love and a lot of imbalance in children. A person who is emotionally damaged cannot learn. Therapeutics has a lot to do with giving back to the person the freedom, the expontaneity and the freedom to know one’s own desires. The civilised world is a domesticated world and education and upbringing are instruments of this domestication. We have a sick civilisation, artists realised this a long time ago and now more and more thinkers.

(Consciousness and Dystopian Society).

ART has an enormous importance within education, it is not only a therapeutic tool but also a tool of introspection, so it helps the individual to bring out what is inside him, it helps him to know his gifts and talents and to make them grow. Failure to nurture a child’s gifts and talents leads to an unhappy and frustrated life.

Today’s education focuses on developing the rational part of the child, but in reality man must also attend to the emotional and visceral part in order to come closer to educating a complete being.

We could go deeper into the current education, which leads to what I call a “modern slavery” and Emilio Carrillo, in his book “Consciencia” names as “integral slaves”. But it is about creating a new reality, not criticising the one that “falls apart”, a reality in which each individual learns to live with his or her gifts and talents, which leads to each being becoming a person who lives in fullness.

From the School of Art of Sonia G Caballero, we begin a new unique project, ART & EDUCATION, ART & CONSCIOUSNESS, educating in the emotions and the deep mind which is what gives meaning to life. Art within education as a fundamental and absolutely necessary tool, giving rise to an integral education in which the individual unfolds his GIFTS and TALENTS, his IKIGAI, stimulating its flowering and facilitating its implementation and work is not work but a direct consequence of LIVING and ENJOY being able to realize your PURPOSE of life.

“Make your work fit your purpose”.

Leonardo Da’Vinchi

“Every individual lives in a continually changing world of experiences of which he is the centre.”

Carl Rogers

In this line we have created new projects of ART and EDUCATION, ART and CONSCIOUSNESS of the Sonia G Caballero School of Art. New MONTESSORI SCHOOL OF ART Sonia G Caballero

サマーワークショップ: 1-木製スタンプまたは 2-ゴム製スタンプ

SONIA G CABALLERO’S MONTESSORI ART SCHOOL. The first  Art School in the World founded by Sonia G Caballero.

Montessori Art School

After the publication of the book Japanese Art & Culture for Children. Vol. I, which in just eight months, since its first edition, has already sold more than 1,500 copies. And the recent opening of the VIRTUAL CLASSROOM with the most difficult Art Projects presented in the book included in its original price. Sonia G Caballero has decided to continue sharing her knowledge in Art with the little ones.

While the public school increasingly reduces its hours of Art classes, artists are aware, on the contrary, of the importance of Art. Given this fundamental need in education, Sonia G Caballero opens the First Montessori Art School.

«As an educator, mother of three children and Art teacher for children ages 3-12 at Japan’s Montessori College, I became aware of where the authentic artist can be found and discovered that art is loved by all children. However, this interest begins to fade as the child matures. They just need to have the materials and tools. This ‘great-little artist’ emerges from carrying out a project with enthusiasm and freedom. As adults we strive, unnecessarily on many occasions, to try to mold the child by encouraging him/her to do things that we consider to be correct. However, by trusting their autonomy and letting them investigate and perform a task on their own, they can surprise us with fabulous results. On the other hand, it reinforces their self-worth and acceptance when feeling loved and useful.».

«Joy, feeling your own worth, being appreciated and loved by others, feeling useful and able to produce, are factors of great value to the human soul.»

María Montessori

In Sonia G Caballero’s Montessori Art School, you will find a very useful tool to develop a strong personality in the child and contribute to form a solid self-esteem, with values that will help him to be a successful adult in life and that does not translate into any other word than happiness. Because when the basis of a person, in their social integration, are respect for oneself and everything around them, coupled with a Japanese philosophy of life IKIGAI, the result is none other than to give meaning to our life. All this through the development of projects, which bring it closer to Universal Art. The use of unique techniques and styles will contribute to nurture their creativity.

The children will witness that with small decisions and constant effort, great achievements are made. On this occasion, their small-big work of art.

I believe that the artists of the XXI century have an important task and is to return to the human being the true value of art, after the desecration it has suffered in recent years, coupled with a devaluation of what Art really means to man.

A Montessori school specialized exclusively in Art. A space where children:

  • They will create their own Art projects taught at the Montessori school in Japan by Sonia G Caballero.
  • They will learn specific Art techniques and Japanese Art techniques.
  • History and fun facts.
  • Specific activities developed to encourage creativity and concentration.
  • Online COURSES, live CLASSES and WORKSHOPS.

Ages from 4 to 17 years old.

And all this we will start with:

SUMMER COURSES and WORKSHOPS taught by teachers in English, Japanese and Spanish, with diploma signed by Sonia G Caballero.

Live Art Classes will start in September.

Unique Japanese art projects taught by Sonia G Caballero at the Montessori school in Japan among many other projects, make it an exclusive and special book, in which the child participates actively, as there is a space reserved to include an image of the project created by himself and a facebook group where he can share images of his projects with a community that participates in this teaching and in this small collective.

In just eight months, since the publication of its first edition, more than 1,500 copies have already been sold. What has led us to want to give more support to educators and children and accompany them in a closer way and we have created a VIRTUAL CLASSROOM with the most difficult Art Projects that are presented in the book included in its original price.

As a mother and Art educator at the Montessori school in Japan, it is easy for me to understand the learning process at different ages of children. The importance of accompanying, supporting and showing possible paths by allowing them to choose between different options. Helping them to develop their talents and fulfill their purpose in life is a direct consequence of happiness.

Our job as parents and educators is to support children and give them the necessary tools to achieve their dreams.

KOTODAMA 言霊, MY NEW BOOK

KOTODAMA 言霊. The Heart of Japan, Art and Culture.

KOTODAMA 言霊. The Word has Life. The Word has Soul… Thus begins the chapter in which this expression of power is explained. Concentrate ki 気 and make a sentence of the word to be fulfilled. That is the power of KOTODAMA.

There are many books written about Japanese concepts that have become very fashionable in recent years such as IKIGAI, SHINRINYOKU, WABI-SABI & ART…etc. KOTODAMA 言霊, is a book that collects twenty-eight concepts, some of them unpublished outside Japan and that appear for the first time in this book such as KOKORO WO KOMETE 心を込めて, KOTODAMA 言霊, KACHOUFUGETSU 花鳥風月…etc some of them we have already discussed in this blog and in the facebook group JAPAN ART & CULTURE |Nihon no kokoro 日本の心.

In this book you will find a compilation of all those concepts that throughout my more than twenty years living in Japan, have left a mark in my heart and have changed my way of perceiving the world. That is why after many years collecting all this information with my own experience and in my own life I wanted to share them with the world in a fun and entertaining way, telling my own experiences, as you can read in the presentation and back cover of the book:

“…Brushstrokes of Japan …
I intend to show a series of concepts of Japanese Art and Culture, without going deep into any of them. So that they bring you closer to Japan.

Some are a series of concepts of Japanese philosophy of life that, if you apply them, will change your course and your way of perceiving the world as they have done with me.

I hope they will help you find peace and happiness as much as they have helped me.”

Sonia G Caballero

Book selected to recommend as reading in high schools by teachers to educate in values.

KOTODAMA, collects a series of fundamental values and philosophy of life essential to help achieve happiness. Basic criteria in the human being that every day have been lost more and more. KOTODAMA reminds us of many of these criteria in a short and summarized form in a book of 152 pages, easy and pleasant to read.

Incorporate a series of fundamental and necessary concepts in Western culture and educate in these values for a return to a more humanized society and in congruence with a philosophy of life that advocates the happiness of human beings as the basis of society. In addition to other concepts of Art and Culture that enrich the person.
