Sonia G Caballero

Artist, painter, designer, creator, writer and entrepreneur born in Madrid. Her work, Fine Art, bears a personal and universal fusion of art and oriental and western Japanese culture. With a clear influence of nature and multiple textures. In her compositions she uses precious metals, Urushi lacquer and diamonds.

With more than 22 years living in Japan. She self-taught the delicate Japanese art. Her life in Japan allowed her to become immersed in the country’s traditional techniques, while developing them. In doing so, she has developed an original and exclusive style, both in painting and using traditional Japanese Urushi lacquer. She created the “Kourinhaku-oil” technique and “Neo-naturalism”.

She is currently the only artist in the world who uses platinum in the Japanese Rinpa school. Her portraits seek perfection in the processing of photographic images. The most significant characteristics are her high concentration of naturalism along with meticulous details in precious metals and oil paintings.

Since 2014, she has extensive teaching experience in art at a Montessori school in Yokohama, Japan, with children aged 3 to 12 years old.

In 2017, she started working on an Art & Jewelry project. This gave rise to her own High Jewelry line, inspired by the DESEOS COLLECTION.

Since 2018, she has been working on coral sculptures with platinum, 24K gold and diamonds in combination with oil colors. She promotes marine reforestation projects committed to the environment.

A consolidated artist in Japan, with eight collections covering different themes. Her work with a distinctive and unique seal, was exhibited at the Spanish Embassy in Tokyo, on the 400th Anniversary of Spain-Japan Bilateral Relations, in 2014. Selected as the artist representing both countries’ fusion.

She has exhibited five times in one of Japan’s most renowned galleries. The Bunkamura Gallery in Tokyo. Where she held her fifth exhibition, on the occasion of the gallery’s thirtieth anniversary, which concluded with an influx of more than 4,000 people in just one week. She has also coincided with exhibitions by artists such as Picasso.

In 2019, selected by the United Arab Emirates Government, she delivered her work THE YEAR OF TOLERANCE. Thiscurrently remains in that country.

In 2020, she published her first book 101 CREATIVE PROJECTS. Vol.I, based on her art projects taught at Montessorischool in Japan.

In 2021, she published her book KOTODAMA言霊. The Heart of Japan, Art and Culture.

In June 2021 she founded the world’s first Montessori Art School for children from 3 to 16 years old.

In 2022 she started an Art & Fashion project in which she works directly on couture garments using traditional Japanese kimono painting techniques, in fusion with her own techniques. She also paints original artworks on bags and accessories from brands such as Hermés…all usingg precious metals. This has led her to win the European Award for Innovation in Fashion and Culture, 2022.

Many of her works are all over the world and some are already in collectors’ hands. Developing new works and developing new projects is a part of Sonia’s continuous innovation.
