Hatsuhinode (初日の出) means “the first sunrise of the year”
The first sunrise of the year is considered an auspicious event. Ancient Japanese believed that Sun is one of the most important gods. It’s very sacred to celebrate the arrival of the New Year with the rising of the sun and pray for good health during the coming year. Many Japanese go to the beach or climb a mountain to witness the first sunrise of the year.
This work contains elements considered “good luck” in Japanese culture in New Year, seeing Mount Fuji and the pine that means longevity.
